Kwai and I had hours and hours to talk while driving across the state last weekend. He mentioned he had seen a picture of a newer "composite" front light mounted on the back of a truck with a red lense in it. I didn't see the picture and wanted to look at it myself.
So, I took a normal 4 bulb "composite" rear light off a newer MV, a normal 3 bulb "composite" front light off a newer MV and swapped out the lenses. What you get is a light bucket just a little bigger than the stock M715 small bucket tail lights with a huge easily seen red lense. Pretty neat. I think I will make a set of towing lights out if them.
I couldn't get the lights to stand up like I wanted, but you can still get the idea. Here is a normal 4 bulb tail light on the left, a normal 3 bulb front marker light in the middle and a converted to rear use 3 bulb light bucket on the right. I didn't think to put a small bucket light in the picture, but the new light is about 1 inch bigger in all dimensions instead of several inches up and down bigger like you would get with the 4 bulb tail lights. This way you get the better visibility without risking them everytime you back out of the driveway.
