Thread: My M-715 Fire Engine

    Default My M-715 Fire Engine

    Hi,

I just took on a new project. I purchased a 1968 M-715 from the fire department that I work for. It has 20,000 miles and had a new engine put in 3,000 ago.

I don't have the year, but the Montana Dept. of Natural Resources and Conservation converted abunch of M-715's to wildland fire engines. It still has the firefighting equipment and it is all functional. It has been converted to 12v.

I plan on keeping it as original to the fire engine as I can. It will also be used for fire protection on our property.

Thanks for the great forum resources and I will try to post as many pictures as I can.

Looks good. If the department still has the tailgate around, members are always looking for them
    Thanks, George

Very nice looking; cool! Normally I am a "stock" kinda guy but I totally agree that you may want to keep this truck the way you remember it. It has a different meaning to you. And, the reason I like the stock appearance is because I drove the M715 when it was new and I was in the army.

    Congratulations!

Looks like you still have the MT DNR paperwork for the conversion they did. Might want to scan that and have brute4c post it up as a sticky in the manual section. There are a few of these trucks around. Where in MT are you? I worked in ND for a couple years and got to drive across MT once or twice.

Glenn, it is already posted somewhere in the manuals section.

I have seen several of these trucks sold thru GSA here, yours is the most complete original one I have seen. I bet they did a hundred trucks or more.

Some sold here in Wis. a few years ago:

Among others I have seen. Search this site for Montana DNR or similar.
